Thacher (1754-1824), a distinguished law-yer and judge, and an M.C. from 1789 to 1801; Timothy Alden, D.D.(1771-1839), author of A Collection of Epitaphs, in five volumes,published in 1814; Oliver Alden Taylor (1801-1851), a clergymanand miscellaneous writer. 7oar a rou§n anc^ romant;ic tract of land on the left (north)ZvUdl, bank 0f ^6 Deerfield River, near the mouth of theHoosac Tunnel, was, by an act of legislature, April 2, 1838, divided,and one part annexed to Rowe and the other to Charlemont. Thename is now applied only to a village within the limits of the tractin the western extremity of Charlemont. It has a post-office, a sta-tion on the Fitchburg Railroad, a saw mill, and several dwelling-houses, nestled in between Deerfield River and the mountains. iLrViOnitC, a village in Adams. THE END.
