Title
A biconical lead spindle whorl of the 15th/ 16th century.
Description
English: A biconical lead spindle whorl (overall diameter: 34mm) with central perforation (diameter: 10mm) that does not narrow more at one end. Both faces are decorated. On one side, there is what appears to be a raised branch-like design with one line splitting into three towards the outer edge of the artefact with occasional dots in between. The other side also has raised linear decoration, but of an elongated cross design which reaches to the far edge of the whorl.
It is difficult to date these spindle whorls precisely, but the highly decorated ones like this example usually date to the 15th/ 16th century.
