Summary[edit]

Description
English: another fashion vignette from the Tacoma Times. This is a ball gown.
  • Text: At the ball given at the Togtown club in honor of Miss Van Ormy there were so many pretty dresses that it would take a month to describe them. Elizabeth's was one of the prettiest. It was a point d'esprit over soft white silk. The trimming was white lace and shirring. The shirring formed a decolletage below which was a fall of lace. The shirring of the decolletage also formed the top of the sleeve, which, with a small puff and another row of shirring, was finished with three ruffles of narrower lace. Half way to the knee was a narrow band of shirring, under which was a broad band, and still under that another narrow band of shirring, finished with a fall of wide lace. Below the lace there was another shirring, and the skirt was finished with two lace flounces. She wore white elbow gloves. And if I am not very much mistaken she is interested at last. The boys have all been wild over her, but she has been pleasant to all of them and shown no preference. But last night she sat out two dances, in the front parlor of the club house, with Jack Roberts, and she never saw him before. He just came home this week from Boston. I expect things to happen. But, mercy, Mr. Brenton wouldn't approve if he knew that I told.
