Summary[edit]
DescriptionA Strong Fall Cold Front and a Late Season Tropical Storm (6330023430).jpg |
Late season Tropical Storm Sean appears to be developing an eye on visible satellite imagery today, while a strong cold front drapes a line of clouds from Louisiana north to the Great Lakes region. NOAA's GOES-13 satellite captured this image on Nov. 9, 2011 at 2:31 p.m. EST of the eastern U.S. and western Atlantic Ocean. The GOES-13 cloud images are overlaid on a true-color NASA/MODIS map by the NASA/NOAA GOES Project at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Md. The wall of clouds that span from the Gulf coast to the Great Lakes are ahead of a strong cold front. The low pressure area associated with the front is seen as the circular area of clouds located in the southern part of the Canadian province of Manitoba, just to the north of the Minnesota border. That low and the associated cold front are bringing rains from north to south. Just to the east of the front high pressure is exiting the U.S. east coast and clear skies will be replaced by the clouds of the frontal system tomorrow. At sea, late-season Tropical Storm Sean is moving slowly and approaching Bermuda. A tropical storm warning is in effect for Bermuda as Sean approaches. Tropical storm conditions are expected on Bermuda by Thursday night, according to the National Hurricane Center. In addition, Sean is expected to produce 1 to 3 inches of rain in Bermuda and dangerous surf can be expected there and along the southeastern coast of the U.S. in the next couple of days.
