Description
English: A Roman Republican denarius from the reign of Julius Caesar (49-44BC), dating 47-6BC. Reece period 1. Obverse depicts the head of Venus, facing right. The reverse depicts Aeneas carrying the palladium in right hand and Anchises, his father, on his shoulders. CAESAR is written downwards, to the left of the image, but is now very worn. Minted in Africa. RRC no. 458.1.

Dimensions: diameter: 17.49 mm; weight: 2.91g.
