Description
English: A Medieval - Post Medieval lead two-disc cloth seal (late 14th – 18th century). Disc one has some lettering within a rectangular field with two chevrons (possibly a branch) above and a pellet on either side of the chevrons. All is enclosed within a pellet border. The lettering is quite indistinct, it reads ..OSL/W…. Only a fragment of disc two remains around the central rivet. The connecting strip is damaged and the majority is broken and missing. The seal is probably a clothier’s, weaver’s or searcher’s seal. Dimensions: diameter: 13.9mm; thickness: 3.2mm; weight: 3.95g.
