Description
English: A Medieval cast copper alloy horse harness suspension mount and pendant found together, c. 1200 – c. 1400 date.

The suspension mount is ‘T’-shaped. It has two horizontal arms and one vertical hinge turned through 90° for the harness pendant below. Each arm end is perforated to accommodate a rivet and terminates with a narrow knop. A very similar example can be seen in Clark 1995 page 69 ref 74. The suspension mount is 40.1mm long, 7.2mm wide, 5.1mm thick and weighs 7.9 grams.

The pendant is a shield shape and a six lion design on the Surface. The suspension loop is integral protrudes from the top edge. There are signs of enamel remaining in the background as well as gilding on the bodies of the lions. The pendant is 36.2mm long, 22.9mm wide, 2.2mm thick and weighs 6.8 grams.
