Title
A Medieval copper alloy buckle plate.
Description
English: A post-medieval copper-alloy drop handle from a drawer or cupboard door. It is cast in one piece and is broadly triangular, with the broad base curved under slightly; there is a triangular notch in the centre of the base. The front of the handle is moulded with two incised oblique lines. The handle then narrows before ending in a pierced square attachment lug; the hole in this is blocked with iron corrosion which preserves a circular cross-section.

The handle is 32.6mm long, 20.1mm wide, 3.4mm thick and weighs 5.7g.

Compare similar examples at NCL-557925, HAMP-059D41 and SWYOR-B9EA81. 17th or 18th century.
