Location - Burley, New Forest Year Taken - January, 2015 2010 Camera - Canon 5d Mark iii Lens - Canon 24-70mm f/2.8 mk ii Exposure - 1/3 second ISO - 200 Aperture - f/8 Filters - Circular Polariser and ND Grad 0.9 This morning, I decided to make the hour or so long trip to the edge of the New Forest, one of England's most beautiful national parks. This is a stunning piece of landscape, where wild horses roam free and where animals are given rights above cars. It truly is idyllic, a vision of how life should be and a cold reminder of the wrong path we as a commercial nation are on. Horses and deer line the narrow roads, fox cubs play upon the open fields. Frost clings long into mid morning and a deathly silence follows you as make your way off of the designated roads and into this wilderness. This morning was one of those suns that waits for no man. By the time it had burnt away the remnants of the blue hour, it was way above the lining of the trees and causing me to squint and shade as I tried to get something resembling a decent photograph. I have to admit, I struggled. Everything I wanted to shoot was in the direction of the sun and most of my images were hazy and unrefined. I did, however, managed to capture this one of a lone horse grazing under an amber sunrise. For just a moment, the sky turned the most brilliant of salmon colours and the light was soft enough to take an image. By the time I had taken the image, clicked the little button on the back of the camera and had a look at my image, the pink had vanished from the scene and everything was cast in an ugly, hazy white glow. |
