Das ATS Racing Team war ein deutscher Motorsport-Rennstall, der zunächst in der Formel 2 und von 1977 bis 1984 in der Formel 1 engagiert war. Das Team wurde von Günter Schmid initiiert und geführt. Es war, ebenso wie das gleichnamige Unternehmen ATS, in Bad Dürkheim bei Mannheim ansässig. Besitzer des Teams war neben Schmid der Industrielle Erich Stahlschmidt aus dem sauerländischen Werdohl, der die Geschäftsanteile von dem ATS Mitbegründer Bruch erwarb und die rennsportlichen Pläne von Schmid nicht nur protegierte, sondern erst ermöglichte. Als Teamchef fungierte jedoch ausschließlich Schmid. Er war in den 1960er-Jahren selbst Rennfahrer gewesen und hatte eine Reihe von Rennen in der Formel V bestritten. Seine letzten Rennen fuhr er 1972, als er sich bereits hauptberuflich bei dem Felgenhersteller engagierte. Danach sponserte Schmid verschiedene nationale Motorsportveranstaltungen, bevor sich sein Unternehmen aktiv am Motorsport beteiligte, um für die Marke ATS zu werben.
