Nederlands: Kaart van Ceylon uit de Atlas van der Hagen, Koninklijke Bibliotheek, Den Haag Deel 4. Het eiland Ceylon werd tussen 1655 en 1658 door de Nederlanders op de Portugezen veroverd. Die verovering was belangrijk omdat de Verenigde Oostindische Compagnie daardoor een monopolie verkreeg op de handel in kaneel.
English: Map of Ceylon excerpted from the Atlas van der Hagen, Koninklijk Bibliotheek, The Hague, Part 4. The island of Ceylon was captured by the Dutch from the Portuguese between 1655 and 1658. The conquest was significant as it ensured the Dutch East India Company gained a monopoly on the trade in cinnamon.
