The ALGOA was a British tramp steamer. She arrived in Tacoma as a unit of the 1897 wheat fleet. Carrying 12,000 short tons of grain, she was the largest vessel to enter that trade to that date (p. 18). [Notes from Gordon Newell, ed., The H.W.
