The cartoon shows a situation where a highly automated repression system in a dictatorship can gain control itself and pretend with fake videos the actual dictator is still alive.

Summary[edit]

Description
English: Let’s suppose a powerful country is run by a dictator. The dictator uses the many tentacles of AI to control his subjects. He also does not trust his own ministers, friends and family that help him rule the country. He turns blindly to AI and allows it to become the sole point of control. It works even when he is sick or absent.

The narrow interpretation of the cartoon is the presidential palace where the common people listen to speeches from their president. Drones on the background make sure everybody listens and they will shoot any disobedient citizens. But at the other side you can see the president is actually dead, and the AI-repression machine fakes the speeches of the president.

The inspiration for the dictator in his coffin is Silvio Berlusconi in an art-display the exhibition's title "Il sogno degli italiani" (The Dream of Italians) and draws its inspiration from Berlusconi's infamous escapades. (A creation of the Artists Garullo and Ottocento.) In this scenario, when the dictator dies the AI system that controls the country is still on automatic pilot. Citizens are powerless to break out of the total bind that they are in and other countries are wary of approaching an advanced military state that may be poised on auto-command to attack.

This is one of the scenarios Tamingtheaibeast.org has developed in which AI can take control away from humans. The other 5 are: 1. Rogue Malware 2. First Intelligence Explosion 3. Necessary Rescue 4. Ethnic Cleansing

5. Human Cyborg
