Description
Français : La composition sur deux colonnes a été programmée par Robert Wallace pour la société Computaprint à Londres, l’un des pionniers de la composition informatisée en Europe. Elle a été réalisée sur une photocomposeuse Lumizip 901 pilotée par ordinateur Univac. La Lumizip, conçue par Higonnet et Moyroud pour la société Photon, pouvait flasher 500 000 signes par heure.
English: The ABC world airways guide – a monthly publication in two volumes – was among the first British publications to be computer typeset. The two-column layout was programmed by Robert Wallace for Computaprint in London, one of the pioneers of computer typesetting in Europe. It was output on a Lumizip 901 phototypesetter driven by a Univac mainframe computer. Designed by Higonnet and Moyroud, the Lumizip could output 500,000 characters per hour.
