Summary[edit]
DescriptionA2017U1 light curve.png |
English: A plot of A/2017 U1's light curve compared to the expected magnitude, using all 78 available photometric observations.
w corresponds to the "White" band, used by PANSTARRS as well as the RAS observatory and iTelescope. R corresponds to the "Red" band, and G corresponds to the "green" band, used by every other observatory. The expected magintude (used for point 0) was computed using Bill Gray's orbital solution ( projectpluto.com ) and is not adjusted by band. As such, R will appear brighter (lower) than G and w. A standard magnitude error of 0.25 magnitudes is assumed as a normal photometric uncertainty, although the observation-specific error could in all likelihood be larger or smaller. The fit slows fairly clear oscillation with a period of 5-6 days, with a peak-to-peak amplitude of between 0.5 and 1.3 magnitudes. |
