Description: This gate was the only one in the land wall of ancient Acre until 1910. The structure of the land gate is very complex and is intended to give maximum protection

שם: שער היבשה אל עכו העתיקה
תיאור: שער זה היה היחיד בחומת היבשה של עכו העתיקה עד שנת 1910. מבנהו של שער היבשה מורכב מאוד ונועד לתת הגנה מירבית לנקודת תורפה זו בחומה. הצילום מתוך העיר החוצה
הערות: מעל השער מופיעה כתובת שנקבעה בו בשנת 1163 להיג'רה (1750/51), ומתייחסת לתחילת תקופת שלטונו של דאהר אל-עומר. על אבן במרומי השער מופיעה שנת הצבתו – 1840. שמות נוספים לשער זה: "שער האריות" – על פי עדות אחד מן החוקרים שהגיעו לעכו באמצע המאה ה- 18, אשר ראה מעל השער תבליט מגולף של שני אריות, "שער ניקנור" – על פי אגדה מפורסמת: על אודות דלתות ניקנור, "שער נצרת","שער דמשק (באב א- שאם)"
