Summary[edit]
- A gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86cm) in height overall consisting of a pheon divided per pale blue and white with a gold shaft inclosed in base by a back scroll inscribed "ONE STANDARD" in gold and overall three gold fleurs-de-lis.
Symbolism:[edit]
- Blue and white are the colors traditionally associated with the Infantry and gold is emblematic of honor and high achievement; black is expressive of stability.
- The pheon symbolizes combat readiness and ready response; it is divided in two, commemorating the brigade's battle heritage and campaign credits in both World War I and World War II.
- The three fleurs-de-lis honor the unit's three Croix de Guerres.

- The distinctive unit insignia was originally approved for the 158th Infantry Brigade on 11 Mar 1998.
- It was redesignated on 28 Sep 1999 for the 2d Brigade, 87th Division.
