MAY 10 1971 Mrs. Clarence R. Letteer Chairman State of Louisiana Gettysburg Memorial Commission 807 Ninth Street Kentwood, Louisiana 70444 Dear Mrs. Letteer: Secretary of the Interior Morton has informed us of his disappointment over the conflict in his schedule that prevents him from participating in the ceremonies at Gettysburg National Military Park on June 11. He has asked us to designate an official to represent him on this occasion. Dr. Ernest Allen Connally, Chief of our Office of Archeology [sic] and Historic Preservation, will fulfill this responsibility and accept the Louisiana Monument on behalf of Secretary Morton, the Department of the Interior, and the National Park Service. We are looking forward to this important event. Please provide us with program and other material that Dr. Connally will need to prepare for his part in the program. Thank you very much for your invitation. Sincerely yours, Director
