April 27, 1971 Mrs. Ruth Detwieler Chamber of Commerce 11 York Street Gettysburg, Pennsylvania 17325 Dear Mrs. Detwieler: Enjoyed talking with you Monday, April 26, 1971. We feel very encouraged that you people seem to have an interest in the dedication of our monument at Gettysburg on June 11, 1971, at 2:00 p.pm. As you know an endeavor such as this requires the cooperation of a number of people even in the State of Louisiana. It is a tremendous undertaking to do something such as this outside of the state. As Director of the Louisiana State Parks and Recreation Commission, who is responsible to see that this dedication is made, I am in need for the following items. I would appreciate your organization looking this list over and advising me of the cost: 1. One hundred (100) chairs placed in front of the platform (Mr. Shober will designate where) 2. A tall lectern 3. A good public address system 4. A good photographer for official pictures 5. Tape recorder 6. A list of important people and the addresses that should receive invitations We would appreciate anything that you can do, and we are anxiously awaiting your reply. Sincerely, [Signed] Lamar Gibson Director
