If you can extend this honor to our wonderful State and do us the honor in accepting the monument for the Gettysburg National Military Park, which I believe is under your department, we shall be most grateful and appreciative. The National Guard from the State of Pennsylvania will assist us with the military part of the program. General David Wade, Adjutant General of Louisana. The Honorable John J. McKeithen, Governor of our lovely Louisiana will give the address and present the Monument to Gettysburg Battlefield National Military Park and of course the cemetery. We expect a good attendance from Louisiana. May I have your photograph for the newspapers if you accept our invitation. Our formal invitations are also at the printers, however your department will receive one in the near future. This has been a five-year assignment for our Commission and now we can see the finale in sight. Louisiana had many soldiers, who fought and died on that bloody battle ground and we, in Louisiana have been slow to honor them. We feel this monument will be one of “Peace and Memory” It is a memorial of affection, reverence, and undying remembrance. Will you please come and bring your family and friends? Most sincerely yours, [Signed] Mrs. Clarence R. Letteer, Chairman
