Description 80-G-41010: The Oscar plaques awarded to the U.S. Navy by the Motion Picture Academy of Arts and Sciences for the Official Navy film “Battle of Midway”, which was produced by Commandeer John Ford, USNR. Shown: Brigadier General R.L. Denig, (right), Public Relations Officer of the U.S. Marine Corps, who received the award in the name of the Navy, Marines, and Coast Guard at the annual dinner of the Academy in Los Angeles, California, on March 4, is shown delivering the statuette to the Secretary of the Navy at the Navy Department, Washington, April 1, 1943.
