English: Caption on album page: Gordon Hall - Offices of Municipal Council - British Concession and Police headquarters - Many social events took place there in the large ball room [i.e. ballroom]. Balls, amateur theatricals, bazaars, and concerts. Victoria Park in foreground. Beautiful bronze plaques were put there in memory of troops of all nationals killed in the defense of Tien Tsin and relief of Peking after Boxer attack. These plaques were melted by the Japanese during the Second World War . Caption on verso: Gordon Hall, called Detring's Folly. During seige of Tien Tsin the community took refuge here .
