White paper with typed black text

June 4, 1974 Mr. Gray Evans Attorney at Law 107 W. Market Street Greenwood, Mississippi 38930 Dear Mr. Evans: We certainly enjoyed your visit, and particularly the opportunity of sharing with you our plans for the Barksdale audio station. The audio station which we propose to dramatize the assault by General Barksdale will cost about $3,450. This includes script, recording by a professional, two tape players, ungrounding of electrical power source, construction of a fieldstone enclosure, and landscaping. If the State of Mississippi elects to donate the $3,618.29 balance form construction of the memorial at Gettysburg, we will use it to build the Barksdale audio station. Any funds remaining will go toward curbing and parking for the Mississippi Monument. We hope this suggestion meets with everyones approval. If it is approved, make the check out to the National Park Service and that amount will be credited to a special account for the accomplishment of the audio and parking. The CBS program “60 Minutes” featured Gettysburg last Sunday and the memorial most used was the Mississippi’s Monument. Hope you saw the program. Sincerely yours, Jerry L. Schober Superintendent JLSchober : bn 6/04/74
