Description
English: A cast copper alloy horse harness pendant. A shield shaped pendant with heraldic decoration comprosing a blue background a three diagonal lines running top left to bottom right and either side of these three small lions. These are likely to be the arms of the de Bohun family and should be described as "azure a bend argent, cotised or between six lioncels or". A shield shaped stud with this coat of arms is illustrated in Griffiths, N, 1995, "Harness pendants and associated fittings" page 70 - 71, number 80 in John Clark ed, "The Medieval Horse and its Equipment", Museum of London. At the top is a suspension loop with a circular hole, This has been slightly bent, but was originally set at right angles to the top edge of the shield. The back is undecorated.
