Summary[edit]

Description Strong tides at Badgers Beach in Northern Tasmania have uncovered remnants of an old forest from centuries ago. The old soil is still quite soft and there are tree roots in places. Believed to be remnants of the land bridge that once connected Tasmania to mainland Australia. This somewhat fragile piece of history is normally covered by a protective sand barrier. The land bridge disappeared around about 6,000 years ago, so these are very old trees.
