If this approval is forwarded without delay, the sculptor will be able to proceed as scheduled on AUGUST 1, 1969 with the next stage. He will cast this model in plaster of Paris and it will then be enlarged to full size in clay. SCHEDULE: The schedule for enlargement will then be as follows: The figure of the recumbent soldier will take approximately 2 (two) months to enlarge. From August 1 to October 1. It will then take the sculptor 2 (two) months, October and November to finish this clay model, or until December 1, 1969. In the meantime, the enlargement of the female figure will be underway. It will take the enlarger 2 ½ to 3 months to complete. In other words while the sculptor is completing the soldier’s figure, during September, October, and November, this work will proceed on schedule by the enlarger Then Mr. DeLue will finish the clay model of the female figure (full size,) during December, January, and February, that is by March 1970. The plaster caster will take 6 weeks or more, or April and May 1970 to cast in plaster…ready to be shipping to the bronze foundry for bronze casting. This means that the consultant will be required to approve the full size model in accordance with the sculptor’s schedule. The months of June, July, August, and September, October and November [sic] 1970 will be required for the bronze casting in order for the sculptor to meet the deadline of his contract, December 5, 1970. During the “production” of the bronze figures as described, the sculptor will simultaneously have the granite pedestal, two benches and marker fabricated. In this way all phases of the Monument will be coordinated. FINAL SUMMARY OF THIS REPORT: In order to maintain this schedule, I request the approval as recommended on page 3 of this report. There are many other details which must be worked on by the sculptor and consultant, too numerous to mention herein. But it is felt sure, that the Commission will wish to begin in the not too far distance to plan for the dedication of this monument for which each and every member has worked so long and hard. Respectively submitted, July 24, 1969 ANGELA GREGORY, Consultant
