Townsend Administrator State Capitol - Visitor Services Section North Carolina Department of Cultural Resources 109 East Jones Street Raleigh, North Carolina 27611 Dear Mr. Townsend: Enclosed are the specifications for restoration of the North Carolina Monument at Gettysburg National Military Park and a draft tri-party agreement covering that work. I especially appreciated the efforts you made to resolve the differences between the National Park Service and the Society regarding the method of restoring the North Carolina Monument. Also, the National Park Service is most grateful to you, the North Carolina Legislature, Mr. Stepp and others for securing the funds for restoration of the monument. I am confident that Mr. Karkadoulias will do a fine job on the monument and we will all be happy with the outcome of his work.
