D66 November 1, 1961 Mr. Charles Moran 218 Bolling Road, N.E. Atlanta, Georgia Dear Mr. Moran: We have received your airmail postcard of October 31, 1961, requesting information on the identity of the Sons of Union Veterans represented at the unveiling of the Georgia State Monument of September 21, 1961. The Sons who were present at the unveiling are as follows: Dr. Joseph Riley, Commander of the Gettysburg Camp 112, Sons of Union Veterans. Lt. Col. O.G. MacPherson, Past State Department Commander, Pennsylvania Sons of Union Veterans, and presently Chairman of the National Military Affairs Committee. Mr. W. Clayton Jester (without a tie), a member of the Gettysburg Camp 112, and also Chairman of the Adams County Civil War Centennial Commission. Sincerely yours, James B. Myers Superintendent [Attached handwritten note: 10/31/61 Dear Jim – I am a little tardy in requesting this information – We had a camera picture made at the Ga Monument unveiling – There was a Dr. Riley, Dentest [sic], + two other S.U.V. member with him. Can you advise by return air mail names + addresses of the three, or one of the? Many thanks! Cordially, Col. Charles Moran Inspt-in-Chief, S.C.V.
