White paper with typed black text and a handwritten signature

Read B. Harding Colonel, USAF, Retired Arcadia, Florida 33821 Mr. Paul W. Danahy, junior, 613 First National Bank Bldg., Tampa, Florida 33601 Dear Mr. Danahy, Thank you so much for the transcription and the trouble you have taken. The ceremony must have been inspiring. Just to look at the monument gives one a thrill. What about the man, who, as a youngster, was called upon to lead the brigade in the absence of General E. A. Perry? I refer to Colonel David Lang. On three occasions, he accepted the responsibility as a colonel, and led the brigade during the absence of its commander. First time was at Gettysburg; then in the Wilderness; and finally, he was there at Appomattox. From all accounts, Colonel Lang had an exceptional career, both military and civil. I mention this in passing. Thanking you again for your thoughtfulness, I am Sincerely, Read B. Harding
