Summary[edit]

Description
English: A mindbending mechanical puzzle or logical puzzle. A medium to huge amount of carpenter-nails shall be placed on top of exactly one single nail that is allowed to stick or be hit the ground or some block of wood. All other nails must be balancing on top of the first. Here you see 50 carpenter-nails in whole.

English: Most people stick to ideas like...
  • ...if the nails are balancing pairwise the amount of balancing nails must be a even number in total. Or...
  • The pairwise placing of the nails as in Image:Lösung_BerchtesgadenerProblem.JPG seems to limit the amount of total nails since the length of the both nails carrying the others is limited as well.
The 50 carpenter-nails solution above proofs such assumptions to be wrong. In fact you could use even more nails in such a solution.
