Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Building at 411 2nd Ave Ext S shown in the 1930s. Technically a separate building, it has since been legally combined with the adjacent Metropole Building. The first 2 floors were completed in 1891 for city engineer Henry K. Owens, with the top 2 floors being added by 1893 when the building became a hotel and restaurant known as the White House. The top 2 floors were removed in 1949 after sustaining heavy earthquake damage, returning the building to its original height.
