White paper with handwritten black text

Georgia Monument Group 7-21-‘61 Memorandum for the Files Mr. Bob Greenwood and three other representatives of the Marietta (Georgia) Monument Establishment, were shown the battle positions of the following Georgia brigades: Benning, Anderson, Semmes, Wofford, Wright, Thomas (all on West Confederate Avenue) and Gordon and Doles (on Howard Avenue). The party selected a site about 20 yards north of the Semmes brigade tablet (200 yards south of the Longstreet line tower) on the west side of the avenue. No mention was made of putting the monument on the on the east side. This should be considered later, as a matter of uniformity in case the South Carolina Memorial is placed on that side. Mr. Greenway said he would send plans and specifications for the Georgia monument within a few days. I mentioned the need of acquiring land in this area for preservation purposes. He believed that Mrs. Kibler, Chairman of the Georgia Centennial Committee would be very much interest in learning of this need, and might make it an objective of the U.D.C. F. Tilberg
