Description
English: The facade of 36 S. 3rd St., Philadelphia, PA, after its renovation in 2013, opening as the John C. Haas Archive of Science and Business at the Chemical Heritage Foundation. Restoration of the building front revealed that it had originally been numbered "24" rather than "36"; the old metal number was retained in the detailing of the new front. The original historic, four-story brownstone facade dated to 1855. Inside the new building contains 8,400 linear feet of shelf space — shelves going up 35 feet floor-to-ceiling. The retaining wall outside adds structural support.
