Summary
[edit]Description340 Madison Avenue.jpg | 340 Madison Avenue between East 43rd and 44th Streets, and going the full block to Fifth Avenue, in the Midtown Manhattan neighborhood of Manhattan, New York City, was built in 1921 and was designed by Pickering & Walter and Starrett & Van Vleck. The building was completely redeveloped in 2003, with the new design, including replacing the masonry facade with glass, by Moed de Armas & Shannon and Gensler. The building had been known as the Canadian Pacific Railroad Building. Not seen in this image, the Classical Revival Fifth Church of Christ Scientist is located on the 43rd Street side of the building, sandwiched into the first two floors. The church has a long-term lease dating from the time the building was originally constructed. (Source: [1]) |
