White paper with typed black text

Colonel John M. Virden (Ret.) 6807 East Avenue Chevy Chase, Maryland 20015 Dear Colonel Virden: Thank you for your letter of June 20. We are forwarding, under separate cover, copies of “The Gettysburg Times” for Saturday and for Monday, since each has a story. We regret the newspaper error in transposing you and Mr. Manning. We appreciate the thought behind Judge Bohlinger’s request, but since this was a staff responsibility we are hesitant supplying all of the names. Perhaps you might let him know that the division officers – Dr. Harry W. Pfanz, Chief Historian; Mr. Williams C. Birdsell, Chief Ranger; and Mr. Thurston A. Keltner, Chief of Maintenance – assumed responsibility for performance of a large part of the work. We were all impressed with the ceremony and moved by the eloquent talk of Judge Bohlinger. Sincerely yours, George F. Emery Superintendent
