White paper with typed black text

June 25, 1963 Mr. Paul Roy, Editor, Gettysburg Times, Gettysburg, Pennsylvania Dear Mr. Roy: In an article by Robert Paul Jordan in this month’s National Geographic, I noticed you and your newspaper prominently mentioned. I thought the enclosed clipping might be of interest, and that you might like to know that a Florida Gettysburg Memorial Commission appointed by Governor Farris Bryant, of Florida, upon which I serve as a member, will be dedicating the Florida monument at Gettysburg on July 3, 1963 at 5:30 P. M. Like most Floridians, I am an imported citizen, and I am particularly interested in the battle since my great grandfather’s brother, John Danahy, served at Gettysburg as a member of the 9th Massachusetts Regiment, which I have always been told, participated very little in the heavy fighting. I am hoping to verify the position of his regiment while in Gettysburg from the 1st to the 4th of July with the members of our Commission. I certainly look forward to again visiting your significant city. Very truly yours, Paul W. Danahy
