September 4, 1961 Mr. James B. Myers, Superintendent Gettysburg National Military Park Gettysburg, Pennsylvania Dear. Mr. Myers: I deeply appreciate your letter of August 30th, with a fine list of names enclosed from the Gettysburg area. I have sent all on the list invitations. Please feel free to invite other who might inquire/as [sic; typed addition] to the ceremonies. It will please us to have a large crowd of interested people. There has been a little delay to printing the program; however, I am enclosing a rough draft of just the program part you might like to look over in advance. I anticipate very few changes. We will forward the entire program in booklet form in about two weeks. The official delegation from Georgia will fly to Washington on the evening of the 19th, and a chartered bus has been arranged to take us to Antietam and then bring us to Gettysburg on the evening of the 20th, where we will stay at your Hotel Gettysburg. I am sure you will have some of your people near the entrance to tell us the exact spot to gather. We will be gathering about 30 minutes before the program starts at 11:00 A.M. I hope we are not putting you to too much trouble. We certainly greatly appreciate all you are doing for us to make the occasion a most outstanding one.
