The primary buildings in this photograph are the wooden Colonial Block, built about a year before the great fire and one of the few major business buildings to survive it, and the old Post Office, built in 1889-90 and in use until about 1907, when both buildings were replaced by the Seattle National Bank Building, which itself is soon to be replaced by a new skyscraper.
