Obverse: Marianne in left profile wearing the Phrygian cap of liberty (national personification of France), surrounded with the lettering: "République française" (French Republic).
Reverse: Face value surrounded with wheat ear, olive branch and the French motto: "Liberté, égalité, fraternité" (Liberty, Equality, Fraternity).
Edge: Smooth.
Shape: Round.
Weight: 4 g.
Diameter: 23.5 mm.
Thickness: 1.4 mm.
Total mintage: Total 3,795,229,061 coins minted between 1962 to 2001.
Engraver: Henri Lagriffoul.
Comment: French franc (Centime) was replaced by Euro on 1 January 2002 and the currency ceased to exist.
