Description

208-PU-171-E-3: Paris Subway Station Named in Honor of Franklin D. Roosevelt. In a ceremony that took place October 30, 1946, the Paris subway system in the center of the Avene des Champs-Elysées, previously called “Rond-Point-des-Champs-Elysees-Marbouf”, was renamed in honor of the late President of the United States. Henri Vergnollo, President of the Municipal Council of Paris, delivers an address praising the memory of President Roosevelt, his friendship for France, and his efforts to bring about the victory of the United Nations. A plate bearing the new name of the station which was covered by the colors of Pars was inaugurated and Jefferson Caffery, Ambassador to France, expressed the appreciation of the U.S. Government and American people for the homage paid to the late President.
