Summary[edit]

Description
English: The image represents a segment of work of scenarios, installations and video animations from the FIU Carbon-Positive Design Studio, led by Professor Thomas Spiegelhalter, displayed at the 6th ECC Architecture Biennial in Venice. The "Time-Space-Existence" event is hosted at Palazzo Bembo in Venezia from May 20 to November 26, 2023. The showcased work, Generative AI-SynBio Blue-Green-Structures Design, originates from Professor Spiegelhalter's Design Studios in Miami and Berlin, culminating in a four-year global research project undertaken in various locations and climate zones. The scenario projects encompass the gathering and examination of geospatial climatic data, employing data-driven Generative AI-ML, Generative Adversarial Networks, and Cellular Automata design methodologies. The aim is to envision carbon-positive and renewable energy-fueled cities, buildings, and infrastructure scenarios. Furthermore, the design studio investigates novel approaches for circular metabolism and self-sustaining green-blue adaptive infrastructures. These are designed to withstand the effects of climate change, including heatwaves, rising sea levels, storm surges, and resource scarcity, particularly in the low-lying areas of Miami.
