Deutsch: Tafel am Haus Braunschweiger Straße 1 in Burgdorf, Region Hannover, die an Carl von Brandis erinnnert.

„In diesem Hause wurde am 12. September 1887 Carl von Brandis geboren. Er ging 1856 als Offizier nach Afrika. Die Burenrepublik, heute die Südafrikanische Republik, setzte ihn als Bergbaubeauftragten für die Goldfelder ein. Am 20. September 1886 gründete er die heutige Stadt Johannesburg. Ein Denkmal erinnert noch heute an den 'Vater von Johannesburg', der sich um die Bevölkerung in unruhigen Zeiten verdient gemacht hat. Er starb am 22. Juni 1903 in Johannesburg.“

„Carl von Brandis was born in this house on 12 September 1887. He went to Africa as an officer in 1856. The Boer Republic, now the South African Republic, appointed him as mining commissioner for the gold fields. On 20 September 1886, he founded the present-day city of Johannesburg. A monument still commemorates the 'Father of Johannesburg', who rendered outstanding services to the people in troubled times. He died in Johannesburg on 22 June 1903.“
