(Jul. 9, 2016) A judge keeps score as an autonomous boat from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University navigates through obstacles during a qualification run as part of the 9th annual AUVSI Foundation and Office of Naval Research-sponsored International RoboBoat competition held in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Student teams design autonomous, robotic boats to navigate and race through an aquatic obstacle course. The behaviors demonstrated by these boats mimic tasks that are being developed for coastal surveillance, port security and other types of oceanographic operations. (U.S. Navy photo by John F.
