Summary[edit]

Description
English: New flying junctions were laid to the west of Reading station in 2015 to remove conflicts between trains on the main line and routes from Basingstoke and Newbury. The west curve (which allows freight trains from Southampton to the Midlands to avoid the station) now has an extra junction allowing trains to diverge right, pass under the new viaduct (visible in the background) and enter the station.
