Summary

[edit]
Description
English: As seen on a July 2015 afternoon, tourists line up at the Bruce Anchor Cruises ticket booth in Tobermory, Ontario, Canada to purchase a seat on the glass-bottomed tour boat Tobermory Frontier. The boat offers cruises through Big Tub Harbour and out to Flowerpot Island in the Fathom Five National Marine Park, a 44-square-mile expanse of Lake Huron that, since 1987, has protected not only a delicate marine ecosystem that includes several rare species of orchid and fern, but also a unique landscape of dolomite rock eroded into sea stacks popularly known as "flowerpots" (most of which are located on the aforementioned identically named island), as well as an array of nearly two dozen shipwrecks that make the park one of the world's topmost attractions for freshwater divers. In operation since 2011, Bruce Anchor Cruises is nowadays the smaller of two boat companies that offer such cruises to Flowerpot Island; its competitor, Blue Heron Cruises, has been shuttling passengers aboard the Great Blue Heron since the 1960s. A third, the True North II, sank during a windstorm in June 2000, killing two of the 20 people on board.
