Summary[edit]

Description
English: Looking upward at the craggy sides of Flowerpot Island at a grove of eastern white cedars (Thuja occidentalis), part of the unique ecosystem preserved at Fathom Five National Marine Park in Ontario, Canada. Dwarfed and stunted by the harshness of their exposure to the full force of the sun and the fierce wids over Lake Huron, these hardy trees and their neighbors make up the oldest forest in eastern North America, the earliest surviving specimens of which date back nearly 2,000 years.
