Summary[edit]

Description
English:

42°41′39″N 71°09′36″W / 42.694293°N 71.160076°W / 42.694293; -71.160076 Picture from or near Level Crossing Grade @ Andover St. at the North end of MBTAs Lawrence, MA yard .near Broadway.

  • Image taken to illustrate both aspects of a switch-stand Target or Ball indicator.
  1. The near junction, points, or switch is set permissible to our viewpoint so train wheels hug the near side.
  2. The far junction shows 'a full red target', indicating the way is blocked meaning the points or movable rails are set against us; the mainline in fact has the track.
