Description
English: Gable stone above the entrance of the reformed church of Donkerbroek, a village in Ooststellingwerf, a municipality in the Dutch province of Fryslân. The escutcheon originally showed the coat of arms of the Frisian family Lycklama à Nijeholt. This coat of arms and some parts of the gable stone text were removed in 1796 during the Batavian Revolution.

Yn it midden stie eartiids it wapen fan de famylje Lycklama à Nijeholt, mar dat is yn 1796 tidens de Bataafske Revolúsje fuorthelle, lyk as in part fan de tekst yn de stien, doe't it yn de moade wie om "haatelijke overblijfzels van de ongelijkheid en hoogmoed der voorige tijden" te wiskjen. De tsjerke is (tegearre mei de klokkestoel dy't der njonken stiet) oanwezen as ryksmonumint (rm 31717).
Nederlands: Gevelsteen boven de ingang van de hervormde kerk van Donkerbroek, Ooststellingwerf. In het wapenschild was oorspronkelijk het wapen van de familie Lycklama à Nijeholt aangebracht. Dat is in 1796 tijdens de Bataafse Revolutie weggehaald, toen het in de mode was om "haatelijke overblijfzels van de ongelijkheid en hoogmoed der voorige tijden" uit te wissen. Een deel van de tekst in de gevelsteen onderging hetzelfde lot. De kerk is (samen met de klokkenstoel die ernaast staat) aangewezen als rijksmonument (rm 31717).
