| Description |
English: Faroese chain dance in Sjónleikarhúsið in Tórshavn, which started before midnight on 28 July 2011 and ended ar around 3-4 in the morning on 29 July. It is tradition to gather in Sjónleikarhúsið on Ólavsøka. Normally the Faroese chain dance is most active in winther-time. It is tradition not to dance between the Carneval and Easter, a tradtiton which dates back to catholic times in the middle ages. When people gather to dance on Ólavsøka, they come from all the country and sometimes there are some people from other countries too, Faroese who live abroad and foreigners. It is up to each one who participates if they wear the national Faroese costume or if they wear other kind of clothings. Most Faroese people who own national costume wear them at Ólavsøka and other "stevna" festivals.
