Title
2011T546: gold posy ring
Description
English: A Medieval finger-ring with a slightly concave surface between two bands that enclose an inscription in French which reads:

A MA VIE (To my life)

Rings with inscriptions carrying romantic sentiments were sometimes exchanged as wedding rings in the Middle Ages. The words of the inscription are separated by engravings of flowers and punched decoration resembling bunches of grapes. The beginning of the inscription is identified by a six-pointed star. The ring is gold and dates from the fifteenth century.

Consequently, in terms of age and as the object contains a minimum of 10% precious metal it qualifies as Treasure under the stipulations of the Treasure Act 1996.
